Police were called to the 400 block of Irvington Avenue around 8:45 a.m. and found a man who had been shot multiple times. He was taken to University Hospital in Newark, where he was listed in stable condition following emergency surgery.
Cecil Z. Lebron, 38, allegedly approached the victim in a parking lot as he was getting out of a car, shoved him, then pulled a .40 caliber handgun and shot the victim. Lebron dropped the gun behind a Willow Court home on his way to the nearby home of an acquaintance, according to investigators.
Lebron turned himself in the day after the shooting and was being held at the Union County Jail. He has been charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses.
